25 January—Boy, what a relief. Our dutiful Fifth District congresswoman Jahana Hayes is no longer in COVID quarantine and is now well enough to make public appearances with her fellow Democrat pols.
You’ll recall (No surprises from Jahana) that our good congresswoman, while assuring me of her personal commitment “to honoring the brave men and women who serve our country” and that her “support of the military and veterans has been unwavering,” nevertheless refused even to comment on the yellow ribbons on Litchfield’s Green honoring those selfsame brave men and women who serve our country and the veterans who have served our country.
Still, given Jahana’s self-professed unwavering support of the military, as well as her responsibility to a clear majority of her constituents—not to mention the expedience of sucking up to the clear majority of her constituents who support the yellow ribbons on the Green—one would have expected her to at least make a showing at the rally on Sunday.
But life’s full of disappointments. Because we discovered on Saturday that the poor congresswoman was quarantined with her second bout of the dreaded coronavirus. At the very least that was a great excuse for her not doing the right thing on Sunday, even though she evidently was well enough to Zoom from her basement with her Democrat pals. Better safe than sorry. For everyone. So no hard feelings.
And yesterday Jahana was out and about with more of her Democrat pals. We assume she tested negative for COVID before leaving her basement. In all events, her handlers should be reminded that the congresswoman also has a duty to Republican constituents . . .
