Along the Peloquin Trail

10 May—The first thing to note in today’s disquisition is that the lengthy listing of businesses associated with Michael Peloquin in yesterday’s disquisition, while pretty complete but not quite up to date, may just possibly contain some inaccuracies because The Monitor’s fact checker didn’t perform due diligence. Tough.

Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, all but two of the listed businesses are or were Arizona entities; the several we checked on the Arizona Corporation Commission website have been inactive for some time. The Impeccable Pig LLC was administratively dissolved in Arizona; and Impeccable Pig Inc., incorporated in Connecticut in 2016, was administratively dissolved and forfeited in 2023.

New Preston Antiques LLC, was registered with the Connecticut Secretary of the State in 2008 and administratively dissolved and forfeited in 2022. Blackeye Capital LLC existed in Connecticut from 2010 to 2022. Phoenix Windsor LLC was formed in December 2019 and administratively dissolved in July 2023.

The members (i.e., principals) of Phoenix Windsor LLC were Michael Peloquin and The Merchant LLC. The Merchant LLC, formed in 2007, appears to be the only currently active corporate entity connected with Michael Peloquin: Peloquin Irrevocable Trust is its managing (and sole) member and principal and Michael Peloquin is its agent.

The Merchant LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2020. Chapter 11 is considered a reorganization that allows businesses to operate while presumably intending to repay creditors. The smallest (at $8,500) of The Merchant LLC’s three listed creditors was the lawyer who would represent Peloquin in the foreclosure of his North Street manse later that year, which he (they?) managed to forestall.

The Merchant LLC also is the entity to which Virginia Mortara, through her New Georgetown Properties LLC, sold the 39 acres for which Litchfield’s Planning and Zoning Commission last Monday unanimously refused to change the zoning to accommodate Michael Peloquin’s plan for a luxury housing tract.

(Michael Peloquin’s other Connecticut limited liability company that’s still active, by the way, is 91 LLC, named for his North Street address, with The Peloquin Irrevocable Trust as principal member and Michael J. Peloquin as principal manager. Irrelevant, but nice to know.)

The Peloquin Saga gets juicier . . .
