29 April—“I run the country and the world.” That’s what Donald Trump told interviewers with The Atlantic last week. Had he given it any serious thought, he’d have boasted, “I rule the country and the world.” A nuance, perhaps, but CEO’s run—manage—businesses. Tyrants rule—control everything about their domains as the spirit moves them.
Sad to say for the country and the world, Trump’s megalomaniacal boast is one of his few statements that isn’t far from the truth. And he’s pretty well proved it in the first hundred days of the second Trumpocalypse. Trump 47, by far the worst administration ever to have afflicted the United States, has excelled in (in alphabetical order) aggression, blatant stupidity, bullying, corruption, defiance, dereliction, ignorance, ineptitude and sheer incompetence, inhumanity, injustice, irrationality, lawlessness, malefaction, malfeasance, misconduct, opportunism, paranoia, personalization, perversion, retaliation, shamelessness, sociopathy, xenophobia. And that’s only for starters.
So what’s there to celebrate about the first hundred days of Trump’s second term?
