25 May—The good news is that Georgia pretty well repudiated Donald Trump as the kingmaker in the state’s Republican primary yesterday. Gov. Brian Kemp took a phenomenal 73.7 percent of the gubernatorial vote against Trump sycophant former U.S. Senator David Perdue’s piddling 21.8 percent.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr also took 73.7 percent against Trump sycophant John Gordon’s 26.3 percent.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who refused the scumbag-in-chief’s illegal request to “find” 11,780 votes in January 2021 and was therefore an extra-special Trump target, didn’t do quite as well, garnering only 52.3 percent of the vote to Trump sycophant Jody Hice’s 33.4 percent. You wonder why Brad didn’t do better. But all he needed was 50 percent, so the good guys prevailed. Keep in mind, that’s not always a sure thing—especially in politics.
Case in point, bad news, Herschel Walker, the quasi-carpetbagging football player-plus, with Trump’s endorsement as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s, who creamed 68.2 percent of Georgia’s GOP U.S. Senate primary vote. His name meant absolutely nothing to me, but evidently it meant a lot to Georgia Republicans. Walker is a Georgia native but was living in Texas when Trump is said to have suggested his run for the Senate. To compound the bad news about Walker, he’s likely to lose to the incumbent Democrat. But score one for the former scumbag-in-chief anyway.
And the really bad news is that Trump heartthrob Marjorie Taylor Greene, the super-duper far-far-far-right nut-case congresswoman whom many Republicans would like to excommunicate, handily won the nomination for Georgia’s 14th district with 69.5 percent of the vote. Here’s a woman who, besides being a white supremacist and antisemite, has equated the Democratic party with Nazis and praised Vladimir Putrid.
(Conventional Republicans equate Democrats with communists, not Nazis, but Marj probably doesn’t know the difference. And, come to think of it, she could well have intended the Nazi comparison as a compliment. But the praise for Putrid is unforgivable.)
In January 2021, with only a few days to go in Trump’s maladministration, Marj Greene suggested he call for “Marshall law” to save the republic. She misspelled it, I didn’t.
One wonders if Marj fantasizes about blowing Trump when she’s eating mini-cocktail hotdogs . . .
