9 June—“Oh, fuck the law!” That’s straight from Peloquin’s foul mouth. No surprise. Nor is it any surprise that Peloquin makes lots of preposterous claims, including that he belongs to an extinct tribe. And of course Peloquin likes to be called The Great Virility—among other things.
It’s no secret that Peloquin is a monster. But this particular foul-mouthed Peloquin is a creature that appears in Clive Barker’s 1988 fantasy-horror novella Cabal, as well as its derivative cinematic flop Nightbreed and other pertinent cult ephemera. How could anyone think otherwise?
The Monitor has been unable to ascertain whether Clive Barker has ever had any dealings with Litchfield’s former car-tax scofflaw and beloved North Street resident Michael J. Peloquin, also known as The Judge, The Doctor, and The Cowboy—but not, as far as we know, The Great Virility.
It must be said that Litchfield’s popular Peloquin is a man of his word. He made it clear on more than one occasion that if he didn’t get his way—specifically (this time) a zone change to allow him to inappropriately overdevelop property that he no longer owns—he’d sue or develop affordable housing even if it bankrupted him. Rest assured that Michael J. Peloquin knows the ins and outs of bankruptcy and foreclosure.
So Michael J. Peloquin—along with two other plaintiffs who also must stand to benefit from inappropriate overdevelopment—on behalf of the two LLCs that currently own the 39 acres he (as The Merchant LLC, of which he is sole member) had quit-claimed in January of last year, a couple of weeks ago in fact sued the Litchfield Planning and Zoning Commission to get his way. The return date is 25 June.
In the meantime, for Brother Peloquin’s edification, we quote from 1 Kings 14:10 in the ever-delightful King James Version: “Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall . . .”
