10 June—Yesterday I skimmed seven unopened envelopes off the top of the recycling bins at the Litchfield post orifice. They were all from the Biden Victory Fund. I’m sure I’d have been able to fish out lots more from the bowels of the bins. Two were addressed to people I know to be Republicans, four to known Democrats, one to a suspected Democrat who died several years ago in Florida.
Joe Biden enclosed a postcard with a really lousy picture of him and Kamala looking like they’re supposed to be walking in front of a granite wall with a Martin Luther King quotation you can barely make out.
It’s Joe’s handwritten note on the back of the card that makes you want to go into hock for him (and Kam)—or puke: “I’m so grateful you’ve stood alongside us to move this country forward. Now it’s time to finish the job—together. I look forward to the progress we’ll keep making for families like yours and mine. Thank you. —Joe Biden”
I wish I could write as neatly as Joe.
Anyway, in the accompanying letter, Joe was “personally asking” the lucky recipients to “contribute $100, $150, $200, or even more today to get our campaign off to a strong start, advance the vision we share for America, [blah, blah, and blah].” Joe’s personal letter doesn’t give the suckers the option of giving him less than a hundred bucks, but the contribution ticket offers an “other” option, begging for bucks to help him “stand up for democracy,” while explaining that contributions that “exceed $200 per election” must list the sucker’s occupation and employer.
The small print details all the details, including that “Biden Victory Fund accepts contributions of up to $889,600 from a person and $395,000 from a multicandidate committee (‘PAC’).” Hint, hint, hint. Those and the other contribution limits detailed in the disclosure differ considerably from the ones detailed in the Biden and Democrat websites. Why would that be?
Then there’s the rest of the required disclosure. Here’s the one from the joebiden.com website. It’s so distasteful that it’s well worth reading in its entirety:
“By signing above, you affirm the following: (1) I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder); (2) this contribution is made from my own funds and not funds provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution; (3) I am at least 18 years old; (4) I am not a federal contractor. Contributions or gifts to Biden Victory Fund are not tax deductible.
“Biden Victory Fund accepts contributions of up to $721,300 from a person and $345,000 from a multicandidate committee (“PAC”). The first $2,800/$5,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Biden for President. The next $35,500/$15,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to the DNC. The next $150,000/$75,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from: AZ, CO, FL, GA, MI, MN, NC, NE, NH, NV, OH, PA, TX, VA, and WI. The next $110,000/$55,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from: AL, DE, KS, LA, MA, MD, MS, NJ, NY, VT, and WV. The next $210,000/$105,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from: AK, AR, CT, DC, HI, ID, IN, KY, ME, MO, MT, ND, NM, OK, OR, RI, SC, TN, UT, WA, and WY. Any additional funds will be allocated to the DNC. A contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution. Contributions will be used in connection with federal elections, may be spent on any activity as each committee determines in its sole discretion, and will not be earmarked for any particular candidate. Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per election cycle. Biden Victory Fund does not accept contributions from corporations or their PACs, unions, federal contractors, national banks, those registered as federal lobbyists or under FARA, SEC-named executives of fossil fuel companies, or foreign nationals.
“Paid for by Biden Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee authorized by Biden for President, the Democratic National Committee and the State Democratic Parties in these states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY.”
Jesus the Jew save me! Does contributing money to a political candidate really have to be such a pain in the ass? And what happens to a person who contributes over $200 and is less than forthright about his occupation and employer?
And now I discover that Joe Biden is coming up to West Hartford next Friday to plot with Ned Lamont, Richie Blumenthal, Chris Murphy, and other Constitution deniers to take our remaining guns away. So I guess I’ll just have to return all the empty postage-paid business-reply envelopes marked “RUSH: Campaign Contribution” to the Biden Victory Fund. THE USPS extortionists need the revenue anyway . . .
