21 April—This letter was received on Saturday:
REGION 20 RESIDENTS TO VOTE ON LOAN PROPOSAL
On May 6th, residents in Region 20 will vote on the education deficit. This will be an important vote for residents to consider what is best for Region 20 and will have one proposal to take out a loan for twenty years. Becky Hubschman a teacher, said: “Reducing teachers and programs is not acceptable.” I couldn’t imagine telling my department supervisor, it’s not acceptable to reduce any employees. As Board member Matthew Terzian said “The deficit problem has been a very trying experience for students and staff.” I guess it’s not a trying experience for Region 20 residents who pay the bills and have to deal with this board.
With the BOE track record, not listening to residents, town officials and no intention of further reductions. These seem to be favorable reasons to reject this loan proposal.
We don’t need to face a 20 yr. payment and wait for this board to add to it with their incompetence. The towns should seriously consider a forensic audit. This would be the right time to have this audit to clear up any insufficiencies. It has much value at this time, not five years from now.

P.S.
When I write a letter to the editor, I’m only expressing my opinion. I want to thank the many people who have come up to me to express their positive comments about my views. In a recent opinion on the hiring of Region 20 new superintendent, I was very disappointed to have Litchfield Selectman Dan Morosani downgrade my opinion by saying “Yet another doom-and-gloom tirade by Richard Morin and Mr. Morin’s “pessimistic analysis”. For a town official to express himself in this matter to a resident, is a shameful accusation. It’s not appropriate for his position and representation of the town of Litchfield.
[Editor’s note: Richard Morin’s P.S. refers to letters that appeared in Litchfield.bz but not LitchfieldMonitor.com. Just as Rich is and was “only expressing” an opinion, so was Dan Morosani. And there’s no “only” about opinions. In this instance it happens that Dan’s opinion was critical of Rich’s, just as Rich’s opinion had been critical of the RSD 20 BOE. That’s the way the world crumbles. Those who volunteer opinions about others must be prepared to accept opinions about themselves from others.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, “Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted.”
As for a town official’s disagreement not being “appropriate for his position and representation of the town of Litchfield,” is Rich kidding? He must know better. In fact, an autocratic federal official of considerable disrepute who will not be named here expresses himself vituperatively with shameful, defamatory, and false accusations whenever he opens his mouth—definitely not appropriate for his position and representation of the United States of America.
Moreover, Dan Morosani doubtless wrote his critical letter in his personal capacity, not as a town official. He was identified as a Litchfield selectman only in the Litchfield.bz editor’s note to his letter.]
