18 October—Tonight’s the big do at Mar-a-Lago to raise money for Leora Levy’s sure-to-be unsuccessful campaign to finally get Richie Blumenthal out of the U.S. Senate. I won’t be there. For a number of reasons, including but not limited to, and not presented in any special order:
First, I went to Florida once and that was enough. Second, I couldn’t afford to blow even the piddling thousand smackers (plus transportation) for the so-called Private Reception, whatever that means, let alone the 25 grand for a picture with the scumbag Trump. Third, even if I could afford to schlep to Palm Beach and hobnob with the moronic and/or opportunistic election deniers, I have a sense of integrity, some principles, and much better taste.
Fourth, I have no respect for Leora Levy and have no doubt that she fully deserves to and will lose the election. Not that Blumenthal deserves to win, to be sure; but at least he has some positives. Before Leora whored herself to Trump in order to wrest the Republican nomination from a far more qualified candidate and far more likely victor on 8 November, she had potential. That was then.
The problem for and with political candidates—especially Republicans these days—is that all too often they’re forced—or at least they see fit—to abandon integrity and principle just to get their moronic party’s nomination; and then they’ve got to run in the general election with all that garbage-filled baggage pulling them down.
That’s the story with Leora sucking up to Trump in Connecticut. And, frankly, it speaks terribly about Connecticut Republicans as well as the GOP all across the country. Are they really as stupid as they’ve been behaving for decades and especially since Trump entered the picture?
Have they no shame? Have they no integrity? Have they no principles? Have they no common sense? Have they no brains?
