Let Greene run

23 April—Marjorie Taylor Greene is a far-far-far-right conspiracy nut who was elected to represent Georgia’s far-right 14th district in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020. I wouldn’t dignify her by calling her a whore. And she probably believes all the crap she spouts anyway.

That crap includes but in no way is limited to white supremacist and antisemitic conspiracy theories, QAnon, and Pizzagate. Greene’s other delusions are too numerous to bore you with. But you can imagine.

Before she eased into Congress, Greene suggested executing prominent Democrat politicians. Given the low intellect of the majority who voted for her in the two Republican primaries and the general election (which she won with almost 75 percent of the vote), her insanity obviously impressed her idiotic base.

Once in the House, Greene equated the Democratic Party with Nazis and compared COVID-19 safety measures to the persecution of Jews in the Holocaust. She apologized for the last one. Grudgingly, I’m sure.

Earlier this year, Twitter permanently suspended her account for posting COVID-19 misinformation. More recently, Greene has parroted Russian propaganda and praised Vladimir Putrid.

Remember QAnon? Those psychopathic morons claim that a left-wing cabal of Satanic, cannibalistic sexual abusers of children operates a global child sex trafficking ring and has been conspiring against none other than Donald Trump. Among other strategically delusional, opportunistic bullshit, to be sure.

Naming Democrat pols, business moguls, actors, senior government officials, and medical experts as members of the dastardly cabal, QAnon paranoiacs claim that Trump was planning mass arrests and executions of thousands of the cabalists on a day known as the Storm or the Event.

We don’t know that he wasn’t. In all events, Trump trumpeted that QAnon psychos were “People Who Love Our Country” and, in addition to not questioning the truth behind their delusions, offered the crazies his help. Are you surprised? Playing to his base.

Pizzagate is another figment of strategic right-wing paranoia, dating back to 2016, claiming that Hillary Clinton campaign emails contained coded messages connecting several high-ranking Democrats and U.S. restaurants, including the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in D.C., to human trafficking and a child sex ring. Probably good for Comet’s business.

On 4 January 2021, Greene called for the results of the presidential election within Georgia to be decertified. After Trump’s second impeachment, she introduced an article of impeachment against Biden on January 21, the day after he took office; no one co-sponsored it, not even the Republican minority.

That Greene’s fellow House Republicans removed her from all committee assignments speaks volumes of the esteem in which she’s not held by her colleagues. Even Liz Cheney, who was and remains dissed by Wyoming Republicans and the Republican National Committee for daring to criticize and support impeaching the great god Trump, still has her committee assignments. Incidentally, Liz Cheney voted to support Trump legislation 93 percent of the time.

Getting back to Greene, several of her Georgia non-troglodyte constituents filed a challenge claiming the crazy congresswoman played a role in the 6 January Capitol riot, that she engaged in, “justified,” “supported,” and “promoted” the 6 January insurrection, thus contravening a provision of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment that says no one who took an oath to support the Constitution but then broke that oath by engaging in insurrection or rebellion can ever hold federal or state public office again.

That absolutely ridiculous provision was intended to make former Confederate activists during the Civil War suffer by keeping them out of government corridors of power and grease the skids for Reconstruction beneficiaries. It hasn’t been tested in modern times. And it shouldn’t be used to keep Marjorie Taylor Greene out of Congress.

The woman is clearly deranged, a blot on the face of the earth, an aberration of human DNA, and another embarrassment to the U.S. Congress. But I really don’t think she engaged in insurrection or rebellion. Greene has been doing stupid things all her miserable life.

But those stupid things got her elected—probably with no voter fraud—and are likely to get her elected again, distasteful as the prospect may be to rational people. Were Greene to be barred from another run, another ultra-right-wing Trump-nut Republican would surely replace her, so why are the non-nuts even bothering?

If so many people didn’t take her seriously, Marjorie Taylor Greene would be good for a laugh. Like Hitler, Putrid, and Trump. Or Biden, Blinken, and . . .
