18 June—Judging by the terms of the just-executed (for all it’s worth) ceasefire-cum-giveaway memorandum of understanding Donald Trump and his equally unqualified, inept, questionably motivated flunkies have “negotiated” with—in this instance, apparently accepted from—Iran, it’s clear that Iran has won the illegal war started by Trump to help his former pal Bibi Netanyahu defend Israel and continue to put off his trial for corruption. It’s an international bar fight.
For the record, history shows that aggressors lose more than half—60 to 70 percent—of the wars they start. While the regime of Iran certainly is evil and corrupt (just like the current regime of the United States, it must be noted), in this case Iran is the victim pure and simple. Yet that nasty nation doesn’t deserve anything like the $300-plus billion in reparations as well as other favors Trump has proffered just to squirm out of a situation he never should have stuck his nose in.
In simple terms, Trump, the self-proclaimed brilliant deal artist, is giving away the store. Because, as the gastronomic acronym concisely puts it, TACO—Trump Always Chickens Out: The unstable schoolyard bully makes dire threats, only to delay or renege, usually in order to give him more time for avert a backlash which would adversely affect what he thinks will be his golden legacy. And, of course, his Nobel Peace Prize.
We’ve seen Trump chicken out time and again. Take Greenland, for instance. Or not. And regime change in Iran. Or not. It’s easier to pay off the wicked mullahs and slink away from the fight Trump started for his own reasons than to admit he seriously screwed up. To be sure, Trump, true to character, threatens to drop a bomb on the Iranians’ heads if they don’t live up to the great deal they gave Trump. Definitely Nobel Peace Prizeworthy.
And then there’s the ex parte aspect of Trump’s deal with Iran that gives the avowed anti-Zionist theocratic Islamic republic virtually the whole megillah and more [sic]. Israel and Hezollah haven’t been involved in negotiating the noxious memorandum of understanding, yet Trump has determined that Israel and Hezbollah will cease their hostilities forthwith.
Hezbollah naturally loves the ludicrous lopsided deal because now Iran can pump more ill-gotten gelt into its anti-Israel warfare. And of course Hezbollah has no intention of ceasing fire on the little nominally secular Jewish state. And naturally Israel is royally—and justifiably—pissed for that very reason, as well, of course, as that Trump’s flunkies made the lousy deal behind Netanyahu’s back.
So it remains to be seen what Netanyahu and Israel will do about it . . .
