Corruption, democracy, and fatherhood

6 December—Commenting on yesterday’s disquisition, El Liberalissimo opined, “So the conclusion of all this is that perfection does not exist (present company & J.S.Bach excluded); accept some level of corruption in politicians and everywhere else? That seems to be where we started.”

Pretty close, El. But J.S. Bach wasn’t perfect. And society does indeed start and end with corruption because it’s inherent in human nature. On the positive side, brilliantly ironical historian Edward Gibbon, in “The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,” called corruption “the most infallible symptom of constitutional liberty.” The late polymath actor Sir Peter Ustinov agreed: “Corruption is nature’s way of restoring our faith in democracy.”

The Bible gave us both sides. And good old party-pooper Joe Biden lamented that “corruption is a cancer: a cancer that eats away at a citizen’s faith in democracy.”

On the subject of Joe Biden and corruption, then, has it ever occurred to our leader that it might pay him, his wayward son, and his party to have his dutiful non-partisan Department of Justice indict Hunter. Then, after Hunter is tried, convicted, and sentenced, daddy can simply pardon him. As for Joe’s knowledge of and/or involvement in Hunter’s unlawful activities, such as they may have been and possibly still are, was it criminal collusion or simply a caring father doing what fathers do?

While the subject of fathers (but those not caring about anyone except themselves), Donald Trump is now insisting that even though he asserted on his own sorry website, “Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he doesn’t really want to terminate the Constitution.

You’ve certainly got to appreciate—but never admire—the scumbag’s overweening chutzpah. The putz is making history yet again.

Unfortunately, because the ultimate con man, the former grifter-in-chief, didn’t tell his fecal-brained followers in actual words to use violent means to terminate the Constitution, what he said is protected by it—although, as we know, that’s precisely what he meant. But it’s common knowledge that, first, Trump is as full of shit as he is of himself—but they’re one and the same; and, second, his fecal-brained followers can’t wait to exert violent means to show their feculent fealty to their megalomaniacal messiah; and he knows it . . .
