Commemorative flag-waving a good idea

8 September—To commemorate the victims of the al Qaeda airborne atrocities on 11 September 2001, you may wish to consider waving flags on the Litchfield Green, as suggested by Val and Leslie Caron. It’s a nice idea.

(8:46 is the time American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. United Airlines Flight 175 hit the south tower at 9:03. American Flight 77 swooped into the Pentagon at 9:37. United Flight 93 plunged into a field in Pennsylvania at 10:03.)

This is part of an article by Wreaths Across America and their project to get America out as a community and wave our American flags in remembrance of those lost on 9/11/01. This is a marvelous way for all Americans to show their loyalty to our country and honor those lost and those who have fought to keep us safe. Would love to see many Litchfield residents join on the Litchfield Town Green from 8:46 a.m. to 10:03 a.m. and wave your American flag. What a sight that will be.

Wreaths Across America makes national call to stand out and wave flags to remember 9/11 anniversary

On Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, national nonprofit Wreaths Across America (WAA) is calling on all Americans to join it in waving the American flag in their own communities to commemorate the 21st anniversary of 9/11.

Members of the WAA family, including staff, volunteers, Gold Star and Blue Star Families, and veterans, will join to share in what they called “the patriotic act of waving the flag, and sharing the stories of those who raised their hand to serve following the events of that fateful day.”

Flag waving will start at 8:46 a.m. and end at 10:03 a.m.

WAA waves the American Flag every Tuesday between 9-10 a.m. ET. It encourages the public to join in.

We are proud of our freedoms and will never forget Sept. 11.

God Bless America Always

Val and Leslie Caron
