8 September—It looks like The Monitor has lost another simple-minded and deluded Trump admirer. This Waterburian, who hasn’t been receiving the daily email link and whom we won’t even bother naming or assigning a nom de bitch, evidently took offense at the last sentence of yesterday’s disquisition, “But calling Harris a Marxist is like calling Trump a businessman.”
“yu no shes a commie if trumps not a busines man wat is he” the Trump admirer was good enough to write, “yu liberal asshole he made more money then yu will ever make kiss an other reader good by” The former reader used an iPhone, which may account for the heavily solecistic kvetch. And the former reader isn’t wrong when you consider the facts and opinion he (yes, it’s a he) states.
Nothing at all wrong with being liberal. Within reason, of course. Asshole, when not referring to an excretory orifice is a matter of opinion, so considering the source it’s a compliment. And people on welfare make more money than I.
The Monitor appreciates being notified when readers prefer to be former readers. Only two have asked to be taken off our mailing list, both for Trump-related reasons. But since the freebie visit counters we change regularly can’t be trusted, we have no idea how many others of whatever persuasions have just stopped reading the daily disquisitions. It doesn’t mean a damn thing for our advertising rates, so we don’t worry.
So, while on the positive fallout from yesterday’s disquisition, Liz and Dick Cheney have said they’re going to vote for Kamala Harris. Great. But while we may infer that a vote is an endorsement, neither Liz nor Dick has expressly endorsed her. Rather, from what we’ve seen and heard, their statements are highly and justifiably critical of Donald Trump but contain no positive comments at all about Kamala Harris.
(None of the Republicans who have repudiated Trump have as far as we can determine eulogized Harris because there’s nothing to praise. The only thing she has going for her is that she’s not Trump.)
Liz Cheney: “I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states. As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.”
Dick Cheney, who two years ago had called Trump “a coward”: “In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
As expected, Trump vituperated on his website, “Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races!” He’s not far from the truth about the margin of Liz’s loss. But considering the overwhelming plethora of gullible Trump loyalists in Wyoming, the margin wasn’t surprising. And Liz has nothing to be ashamed of.
One of Trump’s campaign lackeys, Steven Cheung, when asked for comment about Liz Cheney’s remarks, simply replied, “Who the fuck is Liz Cheney?”
Cheung will go far with Trump . . .
