America needs the America Party

6 July—Given the way Democrats have excelled of late at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory (except in Connecticut, of course, where impotent Republicans still haven’t been able to get their sorry act together), the only hope they have for regaining the White House and majorities in Congress is Elon Musk.

That’s because Musk, having had it with his ultra-short-term symbiotic—i.e., beneficial to both parasites—bromance with Donald Trump, is organizing his own religion. Sorry, he’s forming his own political party. Much of a muchness, when you get down to it.

The apparent or alleged proximal antecedent for Musk’s declaration of independence is Trump’s legislative pride and joy, the obscene One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Musk correctly asserts will bankrupt America.

So Elon Musk, the Apostle of Fiscal Moderation, Prudence, and Responsibility (as well as everything that’s good and right), announced on his X social medium yesterday, right after his former lover had signed the epically immoderate, imprudent, irresponsible (and everything that’s bad and wrong) OBBBA: “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!”

Musk evidently got his “factor of 2 to 1” from a poll on X. In all events, since the ruling albeit gutless Trumpublicans are abrogating everything that made America the great country it used to be in order to give their obnoxious and unstable bully of a leader unbridled power and since the useless opposition party does nothing but bitch and moan, a dynamic new party certainly is in order.

And a party that can cream votes from the decidedly evil Trumpublicans in any meaningful way—and at least get them out of tripartite power—will be doing a great favor for America. Will that be the America Party?

Musk’s political advisors likely chose to call the new party the America Party rather than the American Party because they knew the latter, better known as the Know Nothing Party, was a prominent anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant abomination in the 1850s. Kind of like Trumpublicans on immigrants if not on Catholics.

And Trump has in fact talked about deporting Musk, a naturalized citizen. Of course, no citizen—even a naturalized one—can be deported. But a naturalized citizen can be denaturalized for things like misrepresentation during the naturalization process. And then deported. And you’d better believe that Trump’s blackshirted flunkies are going all out to find or manufacture whatever it takes to get rid of Musk . . .
