7 December—The dynamic Biden White House announced yesterday that the United States will boycott the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing. Well, almost. It’ll be a diplomatic boycott, but the athletes will still able to participate—make that compete—in the games.
Golly gee, gosh, and gee whiz! Will anybody miss the diplomats? Yeah, right. The boycott will probably save taxpayers many millions of dollars in travel, hotel, and entertainment expenses. But outside of the poor diplomats who won’t get their first-class paid vacations on the taxpayers, who gives a bloody damn?
Beijing does. The ruling billionaire Chinese communist apparatchiks are surprisingly upset. They’ve promised “firm countermeasures” because, while the diplomatic boycott is purely symbolic, it’s nevertheless an insult to the communist dictatorship’s propaganda spectacle. China deserves all the insults it gets—and far more that it will never get from the International Olympic Committee, the United States Olympic Committee, or the United Nations, to name only three gutless, corrupt bodies that could and should do the right thing but won’t.
When have they ever done the right thing? Very seldom. Certainly in 1980, after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, President Jimmy Carter kept American athletes home from the Summer Olympics in Moscow. Well, almost: Carter couldn’t order a total boycott of Olympic games because POTUS can’t tell the United States Olympic Committee what to do, but public relations did the trick and the USOC did decide to boycott the Olympics, however reluctantly.
Were it not for the ongoing Peng Shuai incident, in which the Women’s Tennis Association has courageously chosen to suspend tournaments in China at significant financial loss, it’s doubtful the United States would even be keeping its diplomats home, despite Joe Biden’s regular criticism of China’s human rights abuses. But that’s only lip service.
Women are once again manifesting greater scrotal content than men. Don’t forget how male basketball players, among others who brazenly compromise principle for principal, continue to kowtow to Beijing’s reprehensible policies in human rights, justice, politics, intellectual property, and everything else just to make millions of dollars more than they’d make without China. That really stinks.
Why must the Women’s Tennis Association stand alone against China?
