5 March—Opening with the good, while Tesla is offering free so-called supercharging for all EVs in all—even besieged—areas of Ukraine, many if not most EV charging points in Russia have been rendered inoperable. It seems the charging stations were manufactured by a company in Ukraine which took the precaution of leaving itself a backdoor to hack into should the occasion arise.
Ad indeed the occasion has arisen. So, besides leaving Russian EV owners powerless, so to speak, the chargers are displaying pro-Ukraine messages, as well as ones deservedly unflattering to President Vladimir Putrid.
Adding the lack of EV chargers to the inflation and inconvenience most Russian people are experiencing as a result of the sanctions imposed by the rest of the world, one hopes the Russians become frustrated enough to do something about the dicktatorship [sic] they live in. Problem is, many of them probably don’t know what Putrid has got Mother Russia into, since his government (i.e., he) has banned honest and accurate news reporting and broadcasts only propaganda that puts him and what’s he’s doing in the most positive light.
Isn’t that what dicktators do? And can the EV chargers be programmed to display real news? Assuming they haven’t been destroyed—by Putrid or the EV owners.
The bad starts with Ukraine not having been allowed to join NATO and continues with the members of NATO still treating Ukraine like a rabid animal, worthy of lots of pity, a little pain relief, but the poor thing is going to die anyway, so let’s just worry about ourselves and not go near it.
Whether or not the nations of the world unaffiliated with Russia by autocracy, treaty, or convenience care to admit it, they’re all scared of Vladimir Putrid and have been for over two decades, since he weaseled his way up the Kremlin staircase. Vlad is good. He’s insidiously brilliant. Unlike Hitler and Stalin, he’s not stupid. But, like them, he’s pure megalomaniacal evil.
Since Putrid came to power, he’s been boldly and arrogantly telling the world what he intends to do. And then he does it. All of it. Without fail and with impunity. Because nobody—no nation, no world leader, not even one American president—has dared to get in his way.
Everybody gives Putrid’s victims lip service and token support everywhere but where it counts. Because everybody’s afraid of World War III, even of a more localized hot war, like the “little” one destroying Ukraine right now. Because Putrid and his pals have The Bomb.
So to avoid an apocalypse, we must and probably will sacrifice innocent little Ukraine. And when Xi Jinping, the co-epitome of evil, taking his cue from Putrid, decides to stop posturing and actually makes a move on innocent little Taiwan, it’ll be déjà vu all over again. Then will come Donald Trump’s young lover, Kim Jong-un, who will decide to marry the two Koreas. A shotgun wedding, to be sure. (Trump claims he’s still in contact with Kim, whom he fell in love with in 2018.)
The ugly is that despite Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s desperate pleas to NATO, with America’s leadership of course, to declare a no-fly zone for Russian aircraft in his beleaguered country’s airspace, the apparently non-defensive defense alliance categorically refuses to do the right and honorable thing, lest it get involved in a meaningful way.
“Tell us, how many people must be blown up? How many legs, arms, and heads must be torn off and fly away to finally reach you to make you introduce a no-fly zone?” President Zelenskyy asked. “If you do not have the power to close the skies, then give me planes!”
But Jens Stoltenberg, NATO’s secretary general, simply reiterated NATO’s current proof of castration, “We have made it clear that we are not going to move into Ukraine, neither on the ground or in Ukrainian airspace.”
With friends like NATO, who needs enemies? What would happen should a NATO (read American) transport plane be shot down while making a delivery of whatever is acceptable for NATO to deliver?
